Such a cozy ice cream shop! The Stagg is friendly and are sure to make the orders right. Ice cream is flavorful and creamy. Tap to pay available. Note: they do not guarantee there has not been cross contamination with allergens.
Cruising around the Arlington area, and this Ice Cream shoppe popped up as a top result in Google Maps.
This joint is the very definition of hole-in-the-wall; and I always love visiting such locations.
They have a lot of flavors to sample, but they were out of their more popular ones (such as Oreo) — which made sense, as I arrived late in the day and near closing time.
I sampled the Old School Vanilla Chip, S’mores, and Cookie Dough; sadly, none were my cup of tea. I did like the Vanilla Chip the most though, which left a minty aftertaste in my mouth for some reason.
I ultimately rolled the dice on a Chocolate Fudge Brownie Sundae. It comes with two scoops, so I chose semi-randomly (and hastily) and went with Chocolate Peanut Butter and Butter Pecan. It came included with nuts, two of those small round brownie bites, fudge syrup and whipped cream and cherries on top.
I ate my Sundae whilst walking on the sidewalk outside. The day was moderately chilly, but very sunny. I made it a point to avoid warm places and tried to find shade while ambulating around.
The Sundae was rather decent. The one huge plus point I will say, is that it felt rather light on sugar, despite probably being loaded on calories. I liked that it didn’t *seem* to be a guilty pleasure as the majority of ice cream oft feels like.
The other plus points I gave to courteous and speedy service and general kindness rendered. The employees behind the booths acted as gracious and attentive hosts, for all intents and purposes. They did not seem to mind that I took a long(ish) time to decide, for instance.
Overall, nice ice cream shop and hole-in-the-wall joint in the heart of Arlington. Recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. I’ll likely be back at least once more, to sample some of their more decadent and popular flavors (:
I am hoping my experience the last 2 times at Toby's will not become the norm as I have previously had really great interactions. Last week, we visited the new Vienna location in which they were sold out of the Green Tea flavor which has become my absolute favorite. While I can understand this sometimes happens, I decided to try the Arlington(my typical location) today in hopes to revive my Toby's experience. To my delight they had Green Tea, however it was very disappointing compared to previous times. The first was in the fact that I had ordered a Regular because I wanted a larger serving than I normally would get since I missed out last week. The person behind me had ordered 2 singles. When my ice cream was set up on the counter it was the same size as the single cones. When I questioned it I was assured it was in fact a regular despite the fact that the person behind me paid for single scoops and I paid for a regular size but yet they were all the same size? The second disappointment came when the ice cream had no flavor compared to normal and was very icy. Perhaps today's experience was an off day. I am hopeful my next encounter is much different as I have always bragged to my friends about how much I love Toby's.
Ice-cream is better then most places, it totally destroys chain and grocery ice-cream. The quality is premium and the homemade flavor adds to the quality. The chocolate coconut is a must have, I truly recommend. the taro (purple) was also really good it has a funky color to it. Overall the ice-cream was excellent, good portion size as well as the variety of choices. One of the employees were being rude and aggressive because of how long I took but overall great ice-cream, needs some improvement with customer service but great place to stop by after lunch or dinner!
The cafe ole flavor hits different, and it’s nice to pop into on a hot summer day with air conditioning and of course, the brilliant ice cream
We needed some ice cream for the kids and this was close by. They’ve got a pretty large selection of flavors. I didn’t think any of the flavors stood out but they were nice. The store itself is pretty small and doesn’t really have room to hang out. It’s more of a get your ice cream and go type of place.
Great ice cream. Hit and miss on the weekdays if they will be open in the evening. Several trips over only to arrive and have it closed several hours prior to their posted closing. Call before you go.
Like their ice creams. They can satisfy everyone's tastes. I'm not an ice cream lover but their icecreams are less sweet and most flavorful.
